Globally, the Value Added services (VAS) industry is going through a rough phase with the emergence of Over-The-Top (OTT) services. In that perspective, there is a need to discuss ways to make VAS or mobile value added services (M-VAS) business more profitable and relevant.
VAS providers or VAS vendors are the ones that develop systems and/or content across text/voice/data platform. They have a symbiotic relation with telecom operators in that the billing system for their products is integrated with them. A revenue share of this charge is then paid out to the vendor by telco.
